Description & Responsibilities of PLC
.......................................................................................................................

The Church recommends the establishment of a Parish
Pastoral Council to assist the pastor in organization and
implementation of set goals and vision.  At the same time, a
Liturgy Committee is necessary in planning and preparing
the various liturgical celebrations of the sacraments.

At Cathedral Chapel, we have developed a joint committee
that serves dual purposes: a Parish Council and Liturgy
Committee.

Our hope is to invite the members to serve as
representatives at the various Masses.  The Parish/Liturgy
Council (PLC) is a consultative body which represents the
people of God in the parish.

Responsibilities as members of PLC:

•        Serving as a representative for the parishioners at the
(indicate time) Mass;
•        Announcing upcoming Parish Council meetings and
being available at your Mass to speak with parishioners
about their concerns/issues;

•        Participating in Parish Council meetings (8 – 10 times
per year)  to discuss, plan and implement the vision
and goals of the parish and to discuss concerns/issues
presented by parishioners;

•        Assisting in planning for, implementing, and evaluating
particular parish activities.

Every member of the PLC will also be responsible for
liturgy planning of the various liturgical celebration in the
parish such as Sunday, holidays, and special services.

•        Planning according to liturgical seasons and special
liturgies

•        Collaboratively working with the parish priests and
staff to prepare the liturgies.

•        Planning the environment and decorating the church
and overseeing the various aspect of liturgical needs
both current and future

•        Continuing to update information on resources,
scripture and Church teaching on the liturgy

•        Help to recruit and train liturgical ministers such as
lectors, Eucharistic ministers, ushers and altar servers.
